When it’s time to get paid, Current RMS makes it easy to generate an invoice that’s as detailed as you like, for either the total of an opportunity or just a percentage or amount you specify.

New to invoicing from Current? Start here: How does invoicing work in Current RMS?

Get started

As soon as your opportunity is an order, you can create an invoice for it. Just hit Invoice Opportunity under Actions. This will bring up the “Invoice Opportunity” popup.

Don’t see Invoice opportunity? See: Why can’t I invoice my opportunity?

Grouping options

Use the “Group invoice items by” options to choose how detailed you’d like your invoice to be.

  • Opportunity item
Your invoice will look like the opportunity items list, with a line for each opportunity item.

  • Opportunity group
Your invoice will be created with lines for each of the groups on your opportunity and the group totals.

  • Product group
A line on the invoice is created for each opportunity item’s product group or service type with the total.

  • Opportunity
A simple one-line invoice with the subject of the opportunity and the charge total.

Surcharges are included in the charge total of opportunity items, but separate lines are always created for surcharges on invoices.

Invoice type

  • Standard invoice
To generate an invoice for the entire opportunity, choose “Standard Invoice”. This is the default.

  • Part invoice or balance invoice
Sometimes, you might need to raise an invoice for a particular percentage or straight dollar figure of the opportunity. Use part invoicing to do this. We've got a full guide on this, check out: Create a percentage or part invoice

Next steps

When you hit Create on the Invoice Opportunity pop-up, Current will take you to the invoice document automatically. From here:

  • Add or remove invoice items
You might like to add products, services, or text items to this invoice that weren’t on the opportunity or project. Use add new invoice item to do this.

  • Issue invoice
Invoices are created with the status of Open, this means that they’re essentially draft invoices and can be deleted. They don’t have an invoice number. To issue your invoice, making it final and issuing a number, hit Issue invoice under Actions.

  • Post to a cloud-based accounts package
Post this invoice straight to Xero or QuickBooks Online

  • Void invoice
Made a mistake? Void an issued invoice to start over.

  • Credit this invoice
Create an open credit for this invoice.
