We're excited to make onboarding easier with the 'Buy' feature on the Coast Platform. This feature lets you purchase PulseChain core assets directly using US dollars from your Coast account. All you need is a connected wallet to store the tokens—you don’t need any PLS or to sign any on-chain transactions. While we encourage users to get comfortable with DeFi tools, we know this is a simpler and more convenient option for many.
Note: This article explains how to buy $PLS, but the process is the same for any of the assets available to purchase directly with USD
How to Use the Buy Feature on the Coast Platform:
1. Log In and Connect Wallet:
Log into your Coast account.
Connect your wallet to the platform.
Go to the Buy/Sell tab on the left-hand margin, and ensure Buy is selected.
2. Enter Amount to Buy:
In the "You Pay" box, enter the amount of USD you'd like to spend.
Don't worry if the "You Receive" box initially shows 0. Click the Check Price button to fetch pricing data.
3. Check Price:
The Check Price button queries liquidity pools on PulseChain for pricing.
Once the price is available, the button will update to show how many tokens you can purchase and the "You Receive" box will populate with the amount.
4. Click Buy:
After reviewing the details, click Buy to initiate the purchase.
A pop-up will appear with the message "Buy initiated," and your order will be marked as pending.
Please note that these orders aren't instant, as several on-chain transactions happen in the background. Typically, transactions take 4-8 minutes to process
5. Transaction Completion:
After the transaction is confirmed on the blockchain, the purchased tokens will be sent directly to your connected wallet.
You will see a Confirmed status for both the Trade and Send transactions at the bottom of the page.
Troubleshooting Failed Transactions:
If the transaction fails, it may be due to PulseChain network congestion. You can reach out to customer support via the Intercom button in the bottom-right corner for assistance.
Some Common Challenges when using the Buy Feature
Decimal Error
Occasionally you will see this error and it is best remedied by slightly modifying the amount of USD being used for a buy order. It is least likely to occur with whole numbers (but can still occur). A decimal error on a blockchain transaction happens when the system doesn’t handle numbers with fractions or decimals correctly.
2. Trade ‘Retrying’ Error
This error happens when the on-chain trade initially fails. The system will automatically attempt the trade again in 15 minutes, and in most cases, it succeeds. However, if there is significant price volatility on the blockchain, it might fail again. If that happens, your USD value will be refunded manually by Coast staff during business hours. Please let us know in Intercom that this error has persisted.
Please note: In this case, the purchase price hasn't been 'locked in.' If you'd like full control, we recommend minting $CST and completing your trade on a Decentralized Exchange (DEX).
3. Send ‘Retrying’ Error
This error occurs when the trade has been successful, but the send to your wallet has failed. The send will be re-attempted in 15 minutes, and in most cases, it succeeds. If the send continues to fail, your tokens will be sent manually by Coast staff during business hours. Please let us know in Intercom that this error has persisted.
Please note: In this case, the purchase price has been 'locked in.'
