Documents are sent to the customer as an attachment to the Return Shipping Mail and shown in the ship section of the return portal.

Documents exist in 3 types:

  • Packing Slip: the packing slip contains information about the content of a return shipment.

  • Shipping Invoice: the shipping invoice contains information about the content and the value of a return shipment.

  • Shipping label: the shipping label is needed if you use a virtual drop-off or virtual carrier service.

Packing slip

The Packing Slip is not mandatory. If you want to use a packing slip, you can define a packing slip with document elements and triggers.

The packing list typically includes the following elements:

  1. Document header: the header includes a document title that will create the name of the PDF file.

  2. Document body: the body of the document typically contains the following elements:

    1. Barcode

    2. Address table

    3. RMA information table

    4. Returnable product table

  3. Document style: the document style allows you to define the colors of the different body elements.

  4. Activation triggers: a packing list is typically used for all returns and should therefore be linked to all carrier services. However, you can exclude the packing slip for certain carrier services.

In the returnable product table, it can be defined which product information should be included in the packing slip, such as:

  • Custom attributes (if selected, all product custom attributes will be shown)

  • Return reason

  • Service requests

To show the product information, the display type should be set to "products".

Shipping invoice

The Packing Slip is not mandatory. If you want to use a packing slip, you can define a packing slip with document elements and triggers.

The shipping invoice typically includes the following elements:

  1. Document header: the header includes a document title that will create the name of the PDF file.

  2. Document body: the body of the document typically contains the following elements:

    1. Barcode

    2. Address table

    3. RMA information tableReturnable product table

    4. Returnable Product table

  3. Document style: the document style allows you to define the colors of the different body elements.

  4. Activation triggers: a shipping invoice is typically used for cross-border (international) returns and should therefore be linked to relevant carrier services only. However, you can exclude the packing slip for certain carrier services.

In the returnable product table, it can be defined which product information should be included in the packing slip, such as:

  • Country of Origin

  • Customs clearance code (HS code)

  • Product prices

To show the product information, the display type should be set to "products".

Shipping label

The shipping label is mandatory for virtual drop-off or virtual carrier services.

The shipping label typically includes the following elements:

  1. Document header: the header includes a document title that will create the name of the PDF file.

  2. Document body: the body of the document typically contains a title, the shipment information, and a summary of all products. The body can be defined by using one or multiple body elements.

  3. Document style: the document style allows you to define the colors of the different body elements.

  4. Activation triggers: the shipping label should be linked to all virtual carrier services.

Return Shipping Mail

The packing slip, shipping invoice, and shipping label will be sent as an attachment to the Return Shipping Mail. This means that you need to make sure that a Return Shipping mail template has been set up and activated. The documents are also shown for download in the ship section of the return portal.
