No. The ladder board is set up as a ladder. Everyone starts unranked. As a partner wins, they begin to climb the ladder. If they win against someone ahead of them, they take their spot on the ladder and they/all under them fall down by 1 spot. If a partner does not play, they will begin to fall down the ladder.
