Advanced user rights in 3DPrinterOS

Written by Illia Nazarko
Updated this week

Advanced users have the same permissions as regular users by default.

Organization Administrators can grant additional permissions to Advanced Users in Organization Admin → Settings → Advanced Users.

These settings allow administrators to give experienced users additional control over printing and printer management without granting full administrative access.

Show ADVANCED tab in the Slicers for Advanced Users

Enabling this option allows Advanced Users to access the Advanced tab in supported slicers. This exposes additional slicing parameters that are normally hidden from regular users.

Show EXPERT tab in all the Slicers for Advanced Users

This option allows Advanced Users to access the Expert tab in slicers. Expert settings provide full control over slicing parameters and are intended for experienced users.

Advanced users can Queue/Print jobs without a count limit

When enabled, Advanced Users can submit an unlimited number of jobs to the print queue. If disabled, the system will apply restriction from "Maximum count of Queue/Print jobs a Regular user can have at any time" setting.

Advanced users are not limited with the printing time

If printing time limits are configured for regular users, enabling this option removes those limits for Advanced Users.

Advanced users are not limited with the Maximum single Print Job Duration

This allows Advanced Users to start print jobs that exceed the maximum job duration configured for regular users.

Advanced users can see other users Q&A feature answers

When enabled, Advanced Users can view answers submitted by other users in the Q&A feature. This can help experienced users assist others in shared lab environments.

Advanced users can change printer settings

This permission allows Advanced Users to modify printer configuration settings.

Only grant this access to trusted users, as it allows them to change printer behavior.

Advanced users can confirm that the Build tray is clear

This allows Advanced Users to confirm that a printer’s build tray has been cleared after a print finishes.

Two permission options are available:

Only with Can print access

Advanced Users must have printing permission on the printer in order to confirm the tray is clear.

With any type of access
Advanced Users can confirm the tray is clear if they have any level of access to the printer.

Advanced users can Print/Start a new Print job even when their balance is insufficient to cover the job cost

When enabled, Advanced Users can start print jobs even if their account balance is insufficient. If the job cost exceeds their available balance, the system allows the account balance to go negative.

This is useful for faculty, staff, or lab assistants who require uninterrupted printer access.

Advanced users can upload GCODE files

This permission allows Advanced Users to upload pre-generated GCODE files to the platform if "Disable GCODE file upload for Regular Users" restriction is enabled.

Printer access requirements

Even with Advanced permissions enabled, users must still have access to specific printers in order to see queues, submit jobs, or manage printer settings. Make sure Advanced Users are granted access to the necessary printers.

How to grant the Advanced role to a user

Go to Organization Admin → Users.

Find the user you want to modify.

Click the checkbox in the Advanced column next to the user.
