If your phone is not picking up the signal from your Quantum Card, here are some tips to resolve the issue.

iPhone Users:

The iPhone NFC antenna/reader is located towards the top of your iPhone’s back, in the top bezel near the camera. Simply hold the top back of your iPhone to the Quantum Card till you get the notification. You may need to unlock your iPhone first.

A Note on iPhones and NFC:
All iPhones released in recent years have NFC. In fact, every iPhone since iPhone 7, has a built-in NFC chip and can read NFC tags. Later models (iPhone XS onwards) can read NFC tags in the background automatically whereas iPhone 7, 7+, 8, 8+ and X require you to activate NFC each time you want to read a tag.

iPhone XS, XR, 12, 13

If you have any of these iPhone models (see all included models below), it should automatically read the Quantum Card simply by holding the card to the top back of the iPhone (you may need to unlock the phone first).

Sometimes iPhones work in a power saving mode and so there may be a delay in "waking up" the NFC reader on the phone. Try holding the card there for several seconds.

Models Include:

  • iPhone 13, iPhone 13 Mini, iPhone 13 Pro, iPhone 13 Pro Max

  • iPhone 12, iPhone 12 Mini, iPhone 12 Pro, iPhone 12 Pro Max

  • iPhone 11, iPhone 11 Pro, iPhone 11 Pro Max, iPhone SE (2nd Gen)

  • iPhone XS and iPhone XS Max

  • iPhone XR

iPhone 7, 7 Plus, 8, 8 Plus, X

For these models, you may need to activate your NFC Tag Reader every time you want to read a Quantum Card. Follow the steps below to do this.

Access your Control Centre

  1. Swipe up to get the Control Centre

  2. Touch the icon for NFC

  3. Then try touching the card to your phone

  4. If you do not have this icon in your control centre, follow the steps below to add it.

Adding the NFC icon to your Control Centre

  1. Go to Settings

  2. Select Control Centre

  3. Find NFC Tag Reader and click the + symbol to add it to your control centre

  4. Now try following the steps above under "Access Your Control Centre"

Android Users:

Try unlocking your phone before touching your card to it. The location of the NFC "reader" will vary depending on your phone model so try touching it to various parts of your phone. If you're unable to locate the NFC reader on your phone, it's most likely that you have NFC disabled on your device. To re-enable it, follow the instructions below:

  1. Go to Settings on your phone

  2. Choose Connections

  3. Ensure "NFC and contactless payments" is turned ON

  4. Try touching your Quantum Card to your phone again (you may need to try various places to find the location of the reader on your device).

NOTE: If your phone doesn't have an option for "NFC and Contactless Payments", your phone is not NFC enabled and will not work with Quantum.
