Commission Decision (EU) 2017/848 sets down criteria for good environmental status of marine waters, and further specifies the methodologies and specifications with which their monitoring can occur effectively.

In Annex I, you can find the criteria and methodological standards for good environmental status for marine waters that are relevant to the qualitative descriptors of Annex i to Directive 2008/56/EC.

Part I considers the descriptors linked to the relevant pressures: biological pressures, physical pressures and substances, litter and energy as listed in Annex III.

Part II considers the descriptors linked to the relevant ecosystem elements: species groups of birds, mammals, reptiles, fish and cephalopods, pelagic habitats, benthic habitats and ecosystems, including food webs.

To access the relevant Annex and the Commission Decision it originates from, please consult the following legislative Decision.
