Introduction

Congratulations on adopting Centaur solutions! We have some exciting features for you and this document will guide you through all of them.

To get started, please visit https://cloud.centaur.ag/login
In the login page, enter the credentials that was provided to you in the fields "Username" and "Password" (shown bellow).

Once you login you have access to the full functionality of the Platform and the first screen you will encounter is Dashboard.

Dashboard

Dashboard is your overview page. The colored tiles on top display the number of your overall active Processes, Recipes,Gateways and your Assets. In the main Dashboard you will be able to see as well the lists of your latest created Assets, Processes and Gateways as soon as you have created at least one of them.

On the Top right corner of the screen you will be able to see a person symbol on which you click and select Profile. In this page you will be able to change your password by providing your current password and then your new password with its confirmation. As soon as you give those inputs you can click on "Change" button in order to save your preferences.

* You should save this password in case you lose it.

Congratulations! You are now ready for the next step which is to start discovering your devices.

Go to the "Devices" Section to see all the gateways and sensors associated with your account.
If the Centaur All-in-One gateway is configured correctly, it should appear on Centaur Cloud Platform in the "Devices" tab. The green flashing dot next to the gateway indicates that the devices is successfully connected to the internet (it is online) and it is communicating with the platform.

To setup a wireless sensor network and add extra devices to an existing one, press "START SCANNING" at the bottom right corner of the screen. Based on the current sleep setting, the network will have to wait till the next wake cycle to shift to scanning mode (i.e. 1-minute wake intervals).

The idea behind the device manager is to give users the ability to setup their network by setting their network in scanning mode (pressing "START SCANNING" on the bottom right of the screen). This command will set the network to 1-minute sleep interval to help the gateway and the devices discover each-other and ensure communication. It is advised that the sensors are initially activated close the gateway (i.e. within a few meters) to ensure that they are successfully discovered. As soon as the network is set to scanning mode, the user can watch the status of the devices as they are being placed in their final positions. If the dots next to each sensor remain green, it means that they are still communicating with the gateway. If the dot(s) go red, it means that repeaters/network extenders can be used to assist the devices having trouble to communicate and restore connectivity. If no repeaters (battery or always-on) are available, any wireless sensor device can be used as a repeater.

The Devices view is split in three vertical columns, the gateways list, the overview and the network status. The gateways list displays all the gateways associated with your user account. Clicking on one gateway will load the wireless sensors that have communicated with the specific gateway. There are three modes representing the sensor status during the last or the ongoing network scan session

  • The green dot indicating that the sensor is actively communicating.

  • The red dot indicating that the sensor has lost the communication during the recent communication cycles.

  • No dot indicating that the sensor has not been activated recently.

Once sensors are deployed and connectivity is ensured, press "STOP SCANNING" to go to normal mode which can be configured by sliding the selector to the preferred sampling period from 1 minute up to 4 hours

NOTE: Unless there is a special or experimental scenario, it is suggested to keep the wireless sensors network at sampling periods longer than 3 hours.

Press "Live Feed" to go to the sensors view to start seeing live data from your smart sensors.

Pressing "Start Monitoring" will guide you though the steps required to start a monitoring process. See more about "Processes" here.

Here is an overview of Centaur hardware and software architecture:

Note: As you can see in the above scheme, Centaur architecture is separated in the hardware installed on site (sensors, repeaters and gateway) and the cloud infrastructure where users see their data (graphs, sensor readings, etc.), run the analytics to get predictions and estimations, configure, receive and manage warnings and more.
