Adding QR Codes on Equipment Assets

Stick them, link them, track them

Updated yesterday

Choose the Right Placement for the QR Code

Place the QR code sticker somewhere that’s easy to access but not likely to be touched frequently or exposed to grease, splatter, or heat. We recommend applying it to the side or corner of the unit, where it’s visible but protected.

Prepare the Surface

Before applying the QR code sticker, thoroughly clean the area with a degreaser or cleaner to remove any buildup or residue. Once cleaned, allow the surface to fully dry. This helps the sticker adhere securely and ensures long-term durability.

Log in to the 86 Repairs App

Open the 86 Repairs app, then tap on the "Equipment" tab at the bottom of the screen.

Select the Asset

Find the asset you'd like to link to the QR code. You can search by service category or model number, or simply scroll through your equipment list. If you're unsure which category it falls under, browsing your inventory is a great way to locate it.

Once you've found the asset, tap on it to open its details page.

Link the QR Code

Scroll to the bottom of the asset's page and tap "QR Code".

Then, use your phone’s camera to scan the QR code sticker you’ve placed on the unit. The asset will automatically link to the code, making future access fast and easy.
