How do I fix 404 errors, loading errors, and other common platform glitches?

Quick troubleshooting steps for browser caching, page errors, and technical support.

Most loading issues, blank screens, and 404 errors stem from expired browser session cookies, cached older versions of a webpage, or school network firewalls. Follow these steps to resolve common technical glitches.

If a page won't load or an activity freezes

If an activity fails to load for a single student while working for others, it is usually a local browser session issue.

  1. Refresh the page: Perform a hard refresh (Ctrl + F5 on Windows/Chromebook, or Cmd + Shift + R on Mac) to force the browser to reload the newest version of the page.

  2. Log out and log back in: In the upper-right corner, click the profile name and select Log Out (or navigate directly to banzai.org/logout), then sign back in at banzai.org.

  3. Clear browser cache and cookies: Clear the browser’s cached images and files for "All Time," close all browser tabs, and reopen the browser.

  4. Try a private or incognito window: Open an Incognito (Chrome) or Private (Safari/Edge/Firefox) window and have the student log in. If it works normally, a browser extension (such as an ad blocker) or corrupted cache is causing the issue.

If you receive a 404 "Page Not Found" error

A 404 error usually occurs when an outdated link is bookmarked or a browser attempts to access a page using an expired login session.

  1. Log out of your current session at banzai.org/logout.

  2. Return to the main homepage at banzai.org and log back in with your credentials.

  3. If the error reoccurs, clear your browser history and cache, then restart your browser.

  4. Ensure students are accessing assignments by clicking their class dashboard rather than using saved browser bookmarks to specific internal page URLs.

If the entire class cannot load Banzai

If all students in a classroom or computer lab encounter loading errors simultaneously, your school district's internet filter or firewall may be blocking Banzai assets.

  • Contact your school or district IT department and ask them to add *.banzai.org to the district's approved firewall and content filter whitelist.
