An EIN Error 101 occurs when the IRS identifies another entity with the same name as your business during the EIN (Employer Identification Number) application process. This means there’s a name conflict, and the IRS cannot issue an EIN to your business under the current name.

If you encounter an EIN Error 101, you’ll need to reapply for an EIN using Form SS-4. This form is used to provide detailed information about your business to the IRS and to request a new EIN.

When filing through Company Rock, if you receive an EIN Error 101, we are here to assist you. We’ll help you prepare and submit the SS-4 form to address the name conflict and complete the EIN application process.

Please note that the SS-4 process can take about 4 to 8 weeks to complete. During this time, the IRS will typically send your EIN Assignment Letter directly to you once your application has been processed and approved.

Overall, the EIN Error 101 means there’s a name conflict that needs to be resolved through a new application. Company Rock is here to support you through the process and ensure your EIN is successfully issued.
