When working with variable-length materials like spools or boxes of cable that you would like to sell and/or estimate in smaller quantities, we recommend using our "Price set by length" option. This allows you to:

Note that setting the price “By the foot” will undo the Supplier set pricing or Price rule-based pricing, and you’ll need to provide a length for the product.

You can set the price by the length in the Catalog or the Quote.

First, navigate to the Catalog and find a product that you would like to set the price on. Next, click the "Each Item" dropdown and select the "By the foot" option.

Length is preselected in the catalog in one of two ways, either manually or by a pre-defined length (recommended).

Once enabled, you will now have access to three new options: Cost per Foot, Price per Foot, and Length (this can be changed to meters in your company settings). You can now enter the cost and price that should be used when this item is placed in a quote. This per foot/meter amount will be multiplied by the selected Length and any quantity you apply.

This selection can be changed once the item is added to a quote.

Products with Price by Length enabled will show a "PRICE SET BY LENGTH" label.

If you have not created pre-defined lengths yet, you can create a new length from the Catalog. Go to the Products tab, click the Settings wheel, and click Lengths. Click “New Length” and add a pre-defined length in feet.

Go to the quote and click the List tab. This will show the list of products, including the spools and cables.

Select the spool or cable in the Items list and set the price by the length in the panel on the right.
