An "Opportunity Stage" indicates a certain level of progress on the opportunities you are working on. On Cloud, you can create multiple opportunity stages to help you track the progress of the opportunities.

Opportunity stages appear on the Opportunities page as cards and in the 'Overview' tab of each opportunity.

Cloud will provide some default opportunity stages based on the questions you answered when setting up your account. You have the option to customize the stages to fit your organization's needs.

System stages

System stages are the built-in progress levels of opportunities. You can add multiple custom stages and map them to some of these system stages.

Cloud has 4 different system stages for opportunities.

Open

The opportunity that is not closed (won or lost), and you are working to win it.

On Hold

The opportunity is open, but you have decided you can't do anything with or want to wait to do anything with.

Won

Congrats! You won the opportunity and will proceed to work on the project.

Lost

This is an opportunity that you didn't win.

Customize stages

You can customize the default opportunity stages as needed. To customize them, go to "Settings > Opportunity > Opportunity Stages" in the left navigation menu and make one or more customizations.

Rename stages

Click in the "Name" column and rename the stage.

Delete stages

Click the "Delete" icon in the rightmost corner of the stage row.

Reorder stages

Hover over the 6 dots in the leftmost corner of the stage row and move the stage up or down.

Add more stages

Click the "+" on top of the stage rows and add the name, system state, stage group, phase, and color for the new stage.

Stage groups

"Stage Group" is a way of grouping multiple closely related stages into a single group. For example, Checking Requirements and Quoting are two stages under the "In Progress" stage group.

Using stage groups is optional. If you want to use it, toggle the button next to Opportunity Stage Groups and add stage groups as you would add the stages.

The following screenshot shows two stages, each added under two stage groups.

With stage groups enabled, you will see stages under the stage groups on the Opportunities page of the Kanban Board.

If you want to use Stage Groups, consider adding the stage groups first and then adding the custom stages and mapping them to the groups.
