The "Drawings" functionality on Cloud allows you to make your proposals more vibrant to look at, more detailed to review, and more effective at executing projects. The Drawings functionality lets you add multiple types of drawings, each with a distinct purpose.

By including drawings in quotes and proposals, you can improve internal communication within the team and provide useful documentation for technicians, helping them be more successful in the field.

Types of Drawings

The Drawings functionality allows you to create multiple types of drawings, ranging from placing products to visualizing wiring requirements for connecting them to creating port-level connectivity diagrams.

Drawing type

Description

Plan view

A detailed design of the products placed in the locations at the work site

Image quote

A simple design with products placed on the images of the locations at the work site

Whiteboard

A simple feature to review and annotate the images of the work site

Wirepath

A detailed design to estimate the length of the wire and cable requirements to connect the products at the work site

Interconnects

A detailed design to depict the port-level connectivity between the products at the work site

Plan view

By quoting using a plan view drawing, you will use a readily available floor plan or a custom-drawn floor plan of the work site as the layout to add items.

By placing the items in the appropriate locations on the layout, you can show the customer the detailed design to execute the project.

There are two ways to create a plan view drawing on Cloud.

#1 On a floor plan

You can upload a dimensionally sound image or PDF of a floor plan with the rooms or buildings at the work site to the plan view. Cloud will use the floor plan as the underlay for the plan view drawing.

Learn more about adding a floor plan

Once you upload the floor plan to a plan view, you can add items directly to locations in the floor plan from the Item Search bar.

You can also add items you have already added in the Design view of the quote to the floor plan.

#2 On hand-drawn locations

You can use the "Rectangle Location" feature to draw rectangular or polygonal boxes for each room at the work site on the drawing canvas. This way, you can create a layout that closely resembles the actual work site.

Once you draw the location boxes on the canvas, you can add items directly to the locations.

If you want to add items you have already added in the Design view of the quote, draw a location box on the canvas, and Cloud will automatically add those items to that location.

  • If you have added items to the floor plan, you can use the Wirepath and the Interconnects functionality to enhance the design.

  • If you have added items to rectangular locations, you can use the Interconnects functionality to enhance the design.

Image Quoting

With the Image Quoting feature, you can use the images of the work site as your layout. With different images for different locations, you can place the items on top of the relevant images and show the customer how the locations will look with the products installed.

Image Quoting does not support using Wirepath.

Whiteboard

With the Whiteboard feature, you can annotate work site photos and add products onto them, or markup PDFs. Whiteboards provide an experience similar to Image Quoting.

Whiteboard does not support using Wirepath.

Wirepath

Wirepath is a cable length calculator that helps you estimate cabling requirements without ever visiting the work site. With Wirepath, you can draw freehand lines on a 2D floor plan and create an overlay of all the wire runs required at the work site. The wire runs are then allotted the appropriate cables or wires from the catalog.

Wirepath enriches the plan view drawings by enabling visualization of how products will be connected at the work site.

Interconnects

Interconnects is a feature you can use to create port-level connection diagrams to visualize how the products will be connected at the work site. You will need to add the I/O ports to the products in the catalog to leverage the Interconnects functionality. Once the I/Os are added, you can draw connections between the products' ports.

You can group the diagram by location, system, and phase, and download location-level, system-level, and phase-level connectivity to send to the relevant stakeholders for review and to installers for installation.

Drawings toolbar

With all the drawings you can add with the Drawings functionality, you will see a toolbar to add and manage the elements you add to the drawings. The options available on the toolbar differ depending on the type of drawing you are creating.

The toolbar appears at the bottom of the drawing canvas and can be moved to the right if needed.
