It is great that you are using the Visual Quoting functionality to make your proposals more vibrant. Visual Quoting helps you create detailed project designs and use them in proposals so your customers can see a clear, visual representation of the project.

Visual Quoting also allows for internal communication within the team and provides useful documentation for technicians to help them be more successful in the field.

Visual Quoting options

Visual Quoting provides you with multiple options to build visual quotes, depending on the time you want to spend building the quote and the level of detail you want in the quote.

Here is a table with the options available for Visual Quoting.

Plan view

By quoting using a plan view, you will use a readily available floor plan or a custom-drawn floor plan of the work site as the layout to add items. By placing the items in the relevant locations in the layout, you will be able to show the customer the design for the project.

#1 Build using a floor plan

To add a floor plan:

1/ Go to "Overview > Drawings" in the Quote Details view.

2/ Click the "Plan View" tab and then click "Create Plan View."

You will see a pop-up asking you to upload a floor plan.

3/ Browse to the floor plan and upload it.

We support PDF, JPG, GIF, and PNG file types and recommend uploading images greater than 800px by 800px for best results.

Once you have added the floor plan, you have two ways to add items:

#1 Item Search bar

The Item search bar is an area at the top of the screen where you can type the name of the item and add the item directly to the floor plan.

Because you are doing this on a floor plan, the items should be assigned to the relevant locations in their side panel.

Here, you have not added the items in the List view and want to add them to the floor plan, and then have them added to the List view.

#2 Items pane

The Items pane is the pane on the left side of the screen that lists items by their location. From the Items pane, you can click each item and click the area on the floor plan where the item should be placed.

Here, you have already added the items in the List view of the quote and want to show them on the floor plan.

#2 Build using locations

The "Rectangle Location" feature is an alternative to using a floor plan. You can draw rectangular or polygonal locations per room on the canvas and create a layout that closely resembles the actual work site.

To use the "Rectangle Location" feature:

1/ Go to "Overview > Drawings" in the Quote Details view.

2/ Click the "Plan View" tab and then click "Create Plan View."

3/ On the pop-up asking you to upload a floor plan, click "Skip, I'll do this later."

Now you have a blank canvas to do the following:

Draw the locations

There are two ways to draw the locations. If you have a quote created in the List view with the site locations, you can draw each of them on the canvas. If you want, you can directly draw the locations on the canvas and associate them with the locations in the quote, or create new ones.

Add items to locations

The item adding experience to the locations is similar to how you would add items on a floor plan.

Image Quoting

With Image Quoting, you will use the images of the work site as your layout. With different images for different locations, you can place the items on top of the relevant images and show the customer how the locations will look with the products installed.

Image Quoting does not support using Wirepath.

Whiteboard

With Whiteboards, you can annotate work site photos and add products onto them, or markup PDFs. Whiteboards provide an experience similar to Image Quoting.

Wirepath

Wirepath is a cable length calculator that can help you estimate the cabling requirements without ever visiting the work site. With Wirepath, you can draw freehand lines on a 2D floor plan and create an overlay of all the wire runs required at the work site. The wire runs are then allotted the appropriate cables or wires from the catalog.

Wirepath enriches the Visual Quoting experience on Cloud by providing the means to visualize how products will be connected at the work site.

Drawings toolbar

With Plan View, Image Quoting, and Whiteboard, you have a toolbar you can use to add a variety of elements, such as text, lines, shapes, and comments, onto the canvas.

The options to draw wire paths and locations are only available on the toolbar with the plan view.

Share visual quotes

Plan views, image quotes, and whiteboards can be downloaded as a PNG file from the toolbar.

When ready, you can add Plan views, image quotes, and whiteboards to proposals either in the Gallery or Files, Plan Views, Whiteboards section.
