DataPoint accepts volume, speed and class data in 15- and 60-minute .prn files exported from StarNext.
1) Find the Export button on the right side of the ribbon and select Peek/Streeter PRN from the menu.
2) Enter the DataPoint Station ID in the Station ID field and click Next.
The example below shows a count for DataPoint Station MB-1234 (case sensitive).
No leading or trailing zeroes are needed.
Information from the other fields will be ignored by DataPoint and are not required.
3) Set interval length and the Date/Time for the time period to be exported. Click Next.
The example below shows a 48-hour, midnight-to-midnight count being exported in 60-minute intervals.
4) Assign cardinal directions to the Channels in the As Direction column and click Next.
The directions must match the preset directions of the DataPoint Station.
The example below shows a NB/SB midblock count.
If two directions were collected, but only a single direction needs to be exported, uncheck the checkbox in the Include column for the undesired Channel.
Do not check the Combined Selected Channels Into One Direction checkbox. DataPoint does not support Combined midblock data.
The Lane Sensor Layout values are not used by DataPoint and can be ignored.
5) Set File Options and click Export.
File Split Options: “Export as One File”
Unclassed Options: “Export Unclassed as Class 14”
Compatibility Options: Default
Current Export Folder: Directory where the .prn file will be saved.
6) Change the file name to reflect the Station ID (optional)
StarNext assigns a random alphanumeric filename to the exported .prn. Since DataPoint reads the Station ID from the metadata inside the .prn and auto-assigns the count, it is not required that the file name be changed. However, best file management practice would be to update the file name of the .prn to provide some indication of the count in case of import problems.
