Introduction
Personal Records are specific exercise metrics that clients can track over time. Examples include a one-rep max back squat, the maximum number of pull-ups in five minutes, FTP numbers, or a client’s 2km row time.
If you don’t see a Personal Record you’d like to track, contact us at support@fitr.training.
Using Personal Records in Your Programming
You can insert Personal Records into your programs to automatically provide target numbers for every client, no matter how many are following the same program.
For example, traditionally you might write:
1 x5 @50%1RM Back Squat
1 x3@60%1RM Back Squat
1 x2@75%1RM Back Squat
1 x1@90%1RM Back Squat
The client would then need to calculate the weight for each set – assuming they remembered their 1RM at all!
Enter FITR…
Click ‘Add training block’ whilst hovering over a day in your programs schedule
Click ‘Link Personal Record’
3. Pick what Personal Record you want, for example, ‘1RM Back Squat’
4. Then Click ‘Add Personal Record’. It will then be input into the Training Block
By default, percentage based personal records will come through as 100% (your full 1RM back squat) for however many reps stated.
To change this, simply click on the green personal record, delete ‘100%’ and then change it to whatever percentage you would like, for example, (50%).
Click ‘Preview’ to see how it will appear to your client.
You can also add test values to sense-check the session. These are saved to your coach account only and do not affect any clients.
This means you could have 1,000 clients on a program, and each session would be personalised to their own performance.
Displaying Target Ranges
You decide what text your client sees using the free text field. You can insert the same Personal Record multiple times to create suggested target ranges for clients to aim for.
Percentage-Based Programming Example:
Personal Records can be used in Sets x Reps blocks or in standard block sections.
Simply copy the record, adjust the percentages, and FITR calculates personalised targets for each client.
Non-Percentage-Based Sessions
Performance metrics like a 2km row can also be used. Set target split times based on each client’s recorded 2km row time.
For instance, a test value of 7 minutes translates to a 500m split of 1:45. You can then adjust times (e.g., -3s or +3s from their average) and the client will see personalised targets in their session preview.
Adding Your Own Personal Records
All Personal Records are centrally stored to allow community-wide analysis. This avoids multiple conflicting 1RMs or records in the system.
If a record you need isn’t available, email support@fitr.training and we’ll add it.
What If the Client Hasn’t Recorded a Personal Record?
If a client hasn’t added a value, a box will appear in the session for them to input it. Once submitted, the session updates automatically. They don’t need to navigate elsewhere in the app.
We also hide raw session details (percentages or split times) from clients to prevent sharing. Instead, they see:
"Please add your training details to see this session."
Why Use Personal Records?
Keep your programming protected – harder for clients to share sessions.
Deliver personalised training even in group programs.
Clients don’t need a calculator in the gym – ready to train immediately.
Gain more actionable data to analyse as a coach and in the FITR community.
