Conversations & Transcriptions

A quick guide to finding your transcriptions and making the most of your conversations.

Written by Art from Fieldy

What is a Conversation?

The Fieldy app stores all your transcriptions as conversations.

A white card is where your current conversation is being transcribed. You can tap on it to see the real-time transcription. That's not the final transcription version.

This current conversation will remain ongoing while Fieldy detects speech. After 5 minutes of silence, the current conversation ends and is saved, and a new one is started automatically. Once a conversation ends, it may take up to a couple of minutes for it to process and finalize. You can also choose to manually end a conversation using the End Conversation button. This will immediately finalize the current session. Memories, however, are generated after a period of silence lasting about 5–10 minutes, regardless of whether the recording is paused or not. Ensure there is sufficient silence to allow memory creation.

Notes and Memories

The Fieldy app distinguishes between "notes" and "memories." Notes are created during active transcription when the recording is in progress, while memories are generated after a period of silence, typically lasting 5–10 minutes. Understanding this distinction can help you better manage your recordings and ensure all important information is captured.

How do I find past conversations?

Today's and earlier conversations will be visible by scrolling down.

What can I do with my conversations?

Tap any conversation to view its detailed summary. This is an automatically generated summary to cover the key points discussed in your conversation. If you'd like the detailed summary to be formatted differently or cover other points, you can select a different preset template or create your own. See more about templates here.

To copy, export, merge or delete a conversation, click the 3 dot menu in the top right.

To share a conversation, tap the black Share button in the top-right corner.

Troubleshooting Common Issues

  • Can’t Find the Calendar Icon on Mobile? Check for available updates on your App Store or Play Store. If the issue persists, try restarting the app or reinstalling it.

  • Calendar Not Visible on Desktop? Verify that your calendar integration is properly set up in the Settings menu under Integrations.

How can I see the full transcription?

To view the full transcript, open the conversation and tap the Transcript button.

What do the speaker labels in the transcript mean?

The coloured speaker pills labeled Speaker 1, Speaker 2, etc. represent different speakers.

If you've set up your Speaker Profile, your speech will be marked with an avatar icon instead of a name in the transcription.
