Cue is Fountain's AI assistant. The Asana connector lets Cue read your Asana projects and tasks and act on them, so you can check where work stands and turn a Cue conversation into tracked work without switching tools.
Everything Cue does in Asana happens through your own Asana account. Cue can only see what you can see, and it only acts when you ask it to.
Before You Start
You need a Fountain account with Cue enabled.
You need an Asana account in your company's workspace.
If you do not see Skills & Connectors under Cue, connectors are not enabled for your account, contact your Fountain administrator.

When a Cue conversation ends in a set of follow-ups, ask Cue to create the tasks, assign them, and set due dates in one request rather than writing them out by hand.
Connect Asana
In Fountain, open Cue in the left navigation.
Select Skills & Connectors.
In the Connectors (MCP) section, find Asana and select Connect.
If you are not already signed in to Asana, sign in on Asana's own screen. You can use your email address, or Google or Microsoft.
Asana shows a Fountain Cue wants access to Asana MCP screen listing the permissions being requested. Check that the workspace shown in the top right is the one you want to connect.
Select Allow.
You are returned to Fountain, and the Asana card shows Connected.
Try it!
Open a Cue chat and try:
"What is the status of the onboarding rollout project in Asana?" or "Create Asana tasks for the follow-ups in this conversation and assign them to me".
Understand What You Are Granting
The permission screen lists three things the connector will be able to do.
Access your name and email address. This confirms who you are when you connect.
Access your tasks, projects, and workspaces. This is the read access, scoped to what your own Asana account can already open.
Create and modify tasks, projects, and comments on your behalf. Anything Cue creates or changes is attributed to you.
Disconnect Asana
In Fountain, open Cue → Skills & Connectors.
Open the Your connectors tab.
On the Asana card, select Disconnect.
Disconnecting removes Cue's access immediately and deletes the stored connection. You can reconnect at any time.
What Cue Does Not Do
Deleting is not supported. Cue cannot delete a task, so an instruction it reads the wrong way cannot remove work from your project.
Where Cue cannot complete an action, it says so rather than attempting a workaround.
Frequently Asked Questions
Can Cue reach projects I am not a member of?
No. Cue uses your Asana permissions. It cannot open a project or a task that you could not open yourself, and Asana refuses any request that falls outside your access.
Can Cue delete my tasks?
No. Deleting a task is not among the actions Cue can take in Asana. If work needs to be removed, do it in Asana yourself.
Who appears as the author of a task Cue creates?
You do. Cue acts as the person who connected the account, so tasks, changes, and comments are attributed to you.
Do my teammates need to connect too?
Each person connects their own Asana account. Your connection is yours alone, and it does not give anyone else access.
How is my data handled?
Nothing is copied into Fountain in advance. Cue reads Asana at the moment a question or an action requires it. See Fountain's privacy policy for how Fountain processes your data.
