For your LeakBot to work successfully, you must ensure that you place it in the correct position. This will be on the piping directly adjacent to your main/master water shut off valve within your home.
NOTE: For the time being, LeakBot is only suitable to be used for homes within cooler climates. We cannot, at this time, release LeakBot to homes in hot weather climates as the main water shut off valves will usually be located outside and then subject to extreme temperatures.
How to find your main water shut off valve:
If you are unsure where your main shut off water valve is located, this general guide should be able to help you find it. There are a few common areas where you can find a water shut off valve.
Basement (Front Foundation Wall):
In a home with a basement, the shut off valve is typically located near the front foundation wall. It is usually within 3-5 feet of where the main water enters the home.
In an older home with a crawl space and a basement, it’s common to find the shut off valve in the crawl space.
Near Water Heater or Kitchen Sink:
In a home that has a crawl space but no basement, the shut off valve will typically be located near the water heater or under the kitchen sink.
A few more tips to helping you find your homes water shut off valve:
• Follow the path of least resistance. Water lines usually use the shortest path to get to the house.
• Check your inspection report, your shut off valve location should be in it.
• Look for access panels. Shut off valves are not supposed to be sealed behind drywall, so an access panel may have been created.
What to do once you've found your water shut off valve:
All that's left to do is clip your LeakBot adjacent to the water shut off valve. It is best to clip your LeakBot to the pipe before it branches off. Once you've clipped your LeakBot to the pipe, you will need to wait up to 48 hours before the LeakBot will start to work correctly. Within this time, the LeakBot is gathering data around your general water usage, so that it can accurately predict when you are having issues in your home.
What pipes will my LeakBot work on?
Your new LeakBot can be installed on pipes made from PVC, copper, steel and more. The LeakBot can be clipped onto any pipe that has a maximum diameter of 28mm (1.1 inches).
