At Hyperticks, we require traders to approach news events with discipline and caution. News releases often create sudden spikes in volatility that are not replicated in simulated environments. To ensure fairness and protect the integrity of our evaluation and funded programs, certain trading behaviors are strictly prohibited.
Prohibited Activities
The following actions are not allowed during any news release:
Exploiting immediate news bursts with strategies such as straddles or strangles.
Masking news-based trades as standard trading setups.
Entering within restricted windows around Tier 1 releases.
These restrictions apply across all phases of trading — evaluation, simulated funded, and instant funded.
Standard Trading Protocols
To maintain compliance during news intervals, traders must:
Follow their regular trading system without adapting specifically to news spikes.
Open trades only on valid setups according to their strategy.
Tier 1 Data: Special Considerations
Tier 1 data events require the strictest risk controls.
You may hold trades opened earlier, but you may not modify stop-loss or take-profit levels during 5 minutes before and after the news release.
Tier 1 News Includes
Trader Type | Tier 1 Events |
All Traders | FOMC Meetings, FOMC Minutes, Employment Report, Consumer Price Index (CPI) |
Energy Traders | EIA Petroleum Status Report |
Agricultural Traders | USDA Agricultural Reports |
Trading During Other News Releases
For non–Tier 1 news events, you may continue trading if it aligns with your regular strategy. However, please keep in mind:
Spreads and fills may behave differently during high-impact events.
Data disruptions or broker-side execution issues can occur.
Hyperticks is not liable for execution issues during volatile conditions if you choose to trade through them.
Why This Policy Exists
News Trading is not simulated in the same way as live market conditions. Allowing it would create unfair and unrealistic results. By prohibiting it, Hyperticks ensures:
Fairness among all traders.
Integrity of the evaluation process.
Protection of traders from extreme volatility.
This policy is firm and applies to all traders. By following it, you help maintain a fair and stable trading environment at Hyperticks. If you have questions about the News Trading Policy or upcoming Tier 1 events, please contact the Hyperticks Support Team.
