Welcome to INDUSTRY Virtual!

On September 22nd and 23rd, 1000s of product people across the world will convene online to hear from illustrious product leaders and to connect with each other in fun and exciting ways. We know that virtual conferences are new to a lot of us, so this document will help you make sense of how everything is going to go down.


On each day, ‘doors’ will open at 10:30 am EST, with the Keynotes kicking off at 11:00 am EST. Keynotes will continue throughout the day, with Talk Shop Q&As, roundtable discussions, networking, virtual expo hall, and more taking place during the breaks. Keynotes will wrap up at around 6:00 pm, with ‘doors’ closing an hour or so later (we’ll give you time to finish those conversations you’re having with other product people around the world).


The event is being held on a web platform called Hopin. It’s not being held on the place where you registered (Attendify), nor on the official INDUSTRY mobile app (more below). In order to access Hopin, you will receive a login link to this web app 4 days before the event. On Friday the 18th, you will receive an email from 'INDUSTRY: The Product Conference' with a subject line that reads 'Invitation to online event - INDUSTRY Virtual The Product Conference'. The from email will be 'no-reply@hopin.to'. It's likely this email will land in your Promotional folder (or similar) rather than the inbox, so keep that in mind when you’re looking for it. After you click the link you must make a Hopin Account and create your profile to be able to gain access to this online conference.


The Reception area is the homepage that you’ll land on after you log in to Hopin. This will be the central place where you can see the agenda, important updates, and other information.


You can get a general overview of the Keynotes already on the INDUSTRY marketing website (https://www.industryconference.com/virtual), but you’ll need to head to the official mobile app in the run-up to the event to see specific times for Keynotes and various breakout sessions (see below). You’ll also see a detailed Agenda inside the Hopin platform once you log in on the days of the conference.

Check out the confirmation email you will have received after registering to get the code to enter the event in the app.


After each batch of Keynotes, the speakers will head to the Talk Shop stage for a live Q&A. These will last for about 25 minutes each and you will have a chance to field your questions in the chatbox alongside the video stream. Important note: only Conference Plus attendees will have access to the Talk Shop stage. If you are a Conference pass holder and want to upgrade you can do so by purchasing an Upgrade ticket on the marketing website.


Roundtable discussions will be held exploring a wide variety of topics related to Software Product Management. Each is limited to 20 people who will be able to share their audio and video. You’ll see times for scheduled Roundtables in the agenda, they are first-come, first-served, and the conversations will be led by a facilitator. Look out for a list of these Roundtables in an email from us a few weeks before the conference kicks off.


One of the neatest features of INDUSTRY Virtual will be the ability for you to connect with randomly selected attendees for a 10-minute (or shorter) video conversation. It's up to you to set the topic -- it could be a simple hello, or you might find something in common that you want to dig into in more detail. At the end, you can even hit a button to quickly share each other's contact information. To start a discussion, simply head to the Networking page and click the 'Ready' button.


We've invited a select group of partners to showcase their products and services at INDUSTRY. You'll get a lot of value from exploring their virtual booths -- catching product demos, speaking with their staff directly over video, and getting exclusive offers. Like what you see? Simply click the button inside the booth and you'll hear from them at a later date. PLUS, if you indicate interest in 5 or more exhibitors, you'll be in with a chance to win an awesome prize from the INDUSTRY team.


INDUSTRY features an exclusive virtual performance by Ben Folds. We'll be giving you the opportunity to submit your shoutouts for Ben to share in the weeks before the conference. He'll be performing on the Main Stage, so you can enter and sit back to enjoy some good music for product people!


Recordings of every session will be made available to Conference Plus and Superpass ticketholders after the event -- you'll need to wait a couple of days while these are being put together. If you are not a holder of one of these tickets, you'll need to upgrade. If you are a Conference pass holder and want to upgrade you can do so by purchasing an Upgrade ticket on the marketing website.


All attendees will receive a PDF that includes notes for every Main Stage keynote! People have loved these in the past and it gives you a chance to really tune into the talks instead of worrying that you are not going to remember every point. Look out for this and several other useful knowledge resources in your email the day after the event.


We encourage you to use the latest version of Google Chrome, Firefox or Safari for an optimal experience. Pro tip -- if a video refuses to load or something seems to be going wrong, try refreshing the page.
