Turn off SMTP Auth protocol for your organization
If you are using Office 365, you will need to disable authenticated client SMTP submission (SMTP AUTH) in the Exchange admin center where the Mail Flow rules are managed:
Sign in to Office 365 portal (https://www.office.com) with your admin account.
Click the 'Admin' icon or navigate to https://admin.microsoft.com.
Go to the Exchange Admin Center:
In the Microsoft 365 admin center, click 'Admin centers' in the left-hand menu.
From the list of admin centers, select 'Exchange'.
Access Mail Flow Settings.
Uncheck the checkbox labeled "Turn off SMTP Auth protocol for your organization."
NOTE: Sometimes disabling SMTP authentication for the entire organization in Office 365 (now Microsoft 365) could only be done through PowerShell. This was not a feature available directly in the Microsoft 365 admin center or Exchange Admin Center. For organization-wide settings, PowerShell is a required tool.
It's possible Microsoft could have updated these capabilities, so if you're seeking a method that doesn't involve PowerShell, check the latest documentation from Microsoft or contact Microsoft support.
Once complete, proceed to the next section.
