Apps in the Outlook Email Gadget
Updated over a week ago

The Outlook Email Gadget gives you access to apps that allow you to manage data within your Method Account. You can access each app by selecting the app link in the gadget.

You may notice that the CRM apps, such as Activities, Opportunities, and Cases, allow you to not only view records, but also create new ones.

However, transaction records, such as Invoices, Estimates, and Sales Receipts, only allow you to view the transaction, and not create new ones from within the gadget.

NOTE: Only apps you have permission to will show up in the Outlook Email Gadget. For example, if you do not have permission to view Opportunities in Method, then you will not see Opportunities in the gadget.

Activities

The activities app allows you to manage your activities with the contact currently selected. For more information on activities, see our articles on using Activities

In the below example, we have received an email from Bob Crenshaw. The Outlook Email Gadget will show activities related to Bob Crenshaw.

You can create a new activity for Bob Crenshaw by selecting ⊕ New Activity. This will bring up a new screen that allows you to create an activity as well as a follow-up activity from within the gadget itself.

You will notice in our below example that the text from the email is copied into the comments of the activities.

Unfortunately, at this time, you cannot embed images or attachments from the email.

Everything else you are familiar with activities can be accomplished here. When you are done, you can either Complete the activity, or save the activity by using the buttons at the bottom of the screen.

Opportunities

The opportunities app allows you to manage your opportunities with the contact currently selected. For more information on opportunities, see our articles on using Opportunities

In the below example, we have received an email from Bob Crenshaw. The Outlook Email Gadget will show opportunities related to Bob Crenshaw.

You can create a new opportunity for Bob Crenshaw by selecting ⊕ New Opportunity. This will bring up a new screen that allows you to create an opportunity from within the gadget itself.

Transactions

There are a number of transactions you may have access to: Invoices, Estimates, Sales Receipts, Payments. Each will have its own link and will be related to the contact currently selected. For more information on all the transactions and how they work in Method, please see our articles for the Sales Transactions Pack

The below example will show the invoice transactions for Bob Crenshaw.

Note that you cannot create a new invoice from the above screen. You are only able to view them. At this moment, the limited size of the gadget does not facilitate an optimal experience for creating transactions.

To view a transaction, select it in the grid. This will bring up a summary of the invoice, showing the amount due, the Invoice #, the date, and its associated line items.

To see a more detailed view of the invoice,  you can select the Print button. This will bring up the full invoice in a PDF. You will need to have your pop-ups enabled in order for this to show.

Alternatively, you can view the invoice within Method. Selecting the View in Method button will open another browser window and bring you to transaction.
