Connecting Mettle to FreeAgent is an entirely digital process so getting your bank feed set up is easy – with no paper forms.

If you already have a FreeAgent account:

  • Open your Mettle app (make sure you're on the latest version)
  • Tap ‘Connections’ on your Account screen
  • Select FreeAgent
  • Select 'I already have a FreeAgent account'
  • Agree to sharing your data
  • Confirm if you've manually uploaded Mettle transactions to your FreeAgent account previously. If you have done this before we will only send transactions from the date of connections.
  • You’ll be redirected to FreeAgent and asked to log in to your account
  • Once your transactions are cleared, we’ll share them. Some of these will appear instantly, but if they’re still pending it can take two or three days to show.

If you don't already have a FreeAgent account:

  • Open your Mettle app (make sure you're on the latest version)
  • Tap ‘Connections’ on your Account screen
  • Select FreeAgent
  • Select 'New FreeAgent customer'
  • Agree to sharing your data
  • Select the sector you operate in and when you started trading (sole trader only)
  • Complete your VAT details (if applicable)
  • Select the date you’d like to start keeping your accounts from
  • You'll be redirected to FreeAgent and asked to choose your FreeAgent password
  • You'll then be able to login to FreeAgent using your email address and password.
  • Your bank feed will be set up automatically and once your transactions are cleared, we’ll share them. Some of these will appear instantly, but if they’re still pending it can take two or three days to show.

You can remove the connection at any time from within 'Connections' on the Account screen of your Mettle app.
