Using Tables ("Grid") in Prodsys: Filtering, Sorting, and Grouping

Updated over a month ago

Tables, or "grids," in Prodsys allow users to present and organize large amounts of data in a clear and manageable way. These tables support advanced functions such as filtering, sorting, and grouping, allowing users to customize their data view as needed.

1. Filtering Data

Filtering enables users to limit the view to specific entries within the table. This is achieved by using the filter button located next to the column headers.

Steps for filtering:

  • Open the filter options: Click on the filter icon in the desired column. A list of filter options will appear, such as "Contains," "Starts with," "Equals," and more. This is useful if you want to display entries that match specific criteria. This is similar to using wildcard search.

  • Choose the filter type: Select the desired filter type and enter the value you wish to filter by. For example, you can filter the "Contact" column to display only entries that contain "PSIT."

  • Multiple filter: You can use the multiple select to filter out values used in the table. Check the values you want to show in the table.

2. Sorting Data

Sorting is a feature that makes it easy to arrange entries in ascending or descending order. Each column header in the table has a built-in sorting icon.

Steps for sorting:

  • Click on the column header: Click on the header of the column you want to sort. A single click will sort the data in ascending order (A-Z or 1-10). Clicking again will sort it in descending order (Z-A or 10-1).

  • The icon changes: When sorting is active, a small arrow icon will appear next to the column header to indicate the sorting order.

3. Grouping Data

Grouping is a feature that allows users to gather entries based on common values in a specific column. This makes it easier to overview data and identify trends.

Steps for grouping:

  • Drag a column header to the group area: At the top of the table, there is an area labeled "Drag a column header here to group by that column." To group, drag the desired column header (for example, "Contact") into this area.

  • Display grouped data: When grouping is enabled, the table will show data grouped by the selected column. This means that all entries with the same value in the column are collected under one main heading.

  • Expand or collapse groups: You can click on the arrows next to the groups to expand or collapse grouped entries.

Practical Use Cases

Using these features allows users to analyze data and find specific entries easily. For instance, you can filter all invoices from "PSIT SOFTWARE AS," sort them by "Order Date," and group them by "Contact" to get a comprehensive overview.

Summary

The tables in Prodsys are powerful tools for handling large amounts of data. By mastering filtering, sorting, and grouping, users can efficiently customize and organize data according to their needs. This contributes to a more effective and productive workflow within Prodsys.
