Navigation in the system
Go to the menu on the left-hand side
Scroll all the way down and select Settings (under System)
In the list that appears, go to the section Article / Product
Click on Article number setup
1. Type
Specifies which category the rule applies to:
Article
Product
Equipment
Each type can have its own numbering system.
2. Number setup
This is the actual format (template) for how the number should look.
Examples:
ART####-RR
ART = fixed prefix
= running number (automatically increasing)
-RR = fixed suffix (can be a code, revision, etc.)
P-#####
P- = prefix for product
= running number
E-#####
E- = prefix for equipment
The number of # determines how many digits the number will have (with leading zeros if needed).
3. Start number
This is the first number in the series:
Article starts at 104
Product starts at 1
Equipment starts at 1
The system will then automatically increase this number for each new entry.
⚙️ How it works in practice
When you create a new record:
ProdSys identifies the correct Type
Reads the Number setup
Uses the next available number from Start number / running number
Generates, for example:
ART0104-RR
P-00001
E-00001
💡 Important to know
Changing the setup only affects new numbers, not existing ones.
You can use this to clearly distinguish between different types in the system.
Structured numbering makes reporting and searching easier.
