The AI Assistant lets you ask questions about your data in plain language, directly inside ProdSys. Instead of exporting to a spreadsheet, you open the assistant from a table and ask for summaries, breakdowns, totals, or statistics – and get an instant answer based on the data in front of you.
The assistant uses your own AI provider – Anthropic (Claude) or OpenAI (GPT-4o) – and it analyzes exactly the data you choose to show in the table. The feature is useful for anyone who works with orders, invoices, or other large data sets and wants quick insight without building reports manually.
Prerequisites
You have access to the module and table you want to analyze (for example Order → Order details).
An AI provider – Anthropic (Claude) or OpenAI (GPT-4o) – has been configured with an API key (see Configure your AI provider below).
Step-by-step: Configure your AI provider
The assistant connects to your own AI provider using an API key. This is a one-time setup.
Open the AI Assistant from any table (three-dot menu (⋮) → Ask AI).
Click the settings gear (⚙) next to the provider selector at the bottom of the dialog. The AI settings open.
Under Provider, choose Anthropic (Claude) or OpenAI (GPT-4o).
Paste your key in the API key field. You can get a key from the Anthropic Console or the OpenAI Platform – links are shown in the dialog.
Click Save API key.
The provider then shows as Configured. Your API key is stored securely and is never shown in the interface again. Use the trash icon to remove a saved key.
Step-by-step: Open the AI Assistant
Open a table, for example Order → Order details. 👉 Open Order details in ProdSys
Set up the table first: choose the columns you want with Column chooser, apply filters, sort, and set how many records to show. This defines exactly what the assistant will analyze.
Click the three-dot menu (⋮) in the top-right corner.
Select Ask AI. The AI Assistant dialog opens and shows the data from your table.
Step-by-step: Ask a question
At the bottom of the dialog, select your AI provider (for example Anthropic (Claude)).
Type your question in the input field. You can write in Norwegian or English, for example: "Give me a summary of the invoices in the period."
Press Enter (or click Ask) to send. Use Shift+Enter for a new line.
Read the answer in the conversation area.
Click New Chat to start a fresh topic, or open an earlier conversation from the list on the left.
What you can ask
The assistant works well for questions such as:
A summary of the records in the current period.
A breakdown by customer, supplier, or month.
Totals, averages, highest and lowest values.
Notable or unusual records.

Tips and best practices
Set up the table first. Only the columns and number of records you show are sent to the AI, so prepare the view before you open the assistant.
Keep the data set focused. Fewer, more relevant columns and records give more accurate answers, faster responses, and lower usage on your AI plan.
Leave out sensitive columns you do not want to share with the AI.
Ask follow-up questions in the same chat to dig deeper into a result.
Note
The AI Assistant is available in the order overview to start with, and will be rolled out to all large table views over time. This article will be updated as the feature expands.
