How to Use the Carriers Settings in ProdSys

The Carriers Settings page in ProdSys allows businesses to manage different freight carriers, transportation methods, and tracking options. This page ensures that companies can maintain accurate and efficient shipping processes for orders, products, and returns. In this guide, we will go through the key sections of the Carriers page and provide a step-by-step overview of how to utilize this feature.
NOTE: The Carriers can be setup manual or be created by and API integration to a freight system

Key Sections of the Carriers Page:

  1. Carrier List (Top Section):

    • This section displays a list of the available freight carriers, their transport codes, tracking URLs, and additional details like contact information and API connections.

    • For each carrier, you can specify whether it is active, set as a standard carrier, or connected to a freight management system.

  2. Transport Methods (Bottom Left Section):

    • This section shows the transport methods available for the selected carrier. Each transport method has a code, a description, and a checkbox to set it as the default method.

  3. Package Codes (Bottom Right Section):

    • This section lists any available package codes used for the selected carrier. These codes help categorize and identify different types of shipments.

Open the Carriers Page

Step 1: Log In to ProdSys

Log in to your ProdSys account using your login credentials.

Step 2: Navigate to Settings

Select System / Settings. Go to the Logistics section and choose Carriers.

Steps to Configure a Carrier

  1. Accessing the Carriers Settings:

    • Navigate to the Carriers settings under the system settings menu in ProdSys.

    • Once on this page, you will see a list of existing carriers in the system.

  2. Adding a New Carrier:

    • To add a new carrier, click on the blue + button located in the top left corner of the carrier list.

    • Input the Supplier, Transporter Code, Description, and Tracking URL.

    • If applicable, select the API system and set it as the Standard carrier or mark it as Passive.

    • The Tracking URL should include a placeholder (e.g., {consignmentNumber}) to link the shipment tracking to the carrier’s platform.

  3. Managing Transport Methods:

    • For each carrier, you can define multiple Transport Methods.

    • In the Transport Methods section at the bottom left, click the + button to add new methods.

    • Fill in the Code and Description. You can also set one of the methods as the standard by checking the Standard checkbox.

  4. Assigning Package Codes:

    • In the Package Codes section, define codes for packages or other shipment types handled by the carrier.

    • Add a new code by clicking the + button, and enter the code and description for that package type.

  5. Saving and Editing:

    • After adding or editing information, make sure to click Save to apply the changes.

    • You can always go back and modify existing entries by clicking the three-dot action menu next to the carrier or transport method and selecting Edit or Delete.

Key Features:

  • Tracking URL: Automatically generates tracking links for customers when a consignment number is entered into the system.
    Add the URL and use the {consignmentNumber} to insert the Consignment Number from the freight order.

  • Transport Methods: Offers a variety of delivery options (e.g., express, home delivery, or business parcels) that can be tailored to each order.

  • Package Codes: Allows users to classify packages and apply different handling procedures based on the contents.

  • Bring:

    • Transporter Code: bring2

    • Tracking URL: https://sporing.bring.no/sporing/{consignmentNumber}

    • Methods include express next day, home delivery parcel, business parcel, and more.

  • PostNord:

    • Transporter Code: tollpost_globe

    • Tracking URL: https://my.postnord.no/tracking/{consignmentNumber}

    • Various return and delivery options available.
