How Do I Change Students' Reading Levels?

RocketLit automatically adjusts reading levels over time, but teachers can manually update a student’s level or have them retake the diagnostic at any time. This guide walks you through both options to ensure your students are reading at the level that supports their growth.

👀 How to View Current Reading Levels

To view your students' reading levels:

  1. Navigate to your"Rosters" tab

  2. Click “Show # Students” to view all students in that roster.

  3. Locate the "Reading Level" column to see:

    • The student’s current reading level, or

    • If the student is still taking the diagnostic


🛠️ How to Manually Change a Student’s Reading Level

  1. Navigate to the "Rosters" tab on your RocketLit dashboard.

  2. Click “Show # Students” under the roster you want to edit.

  3. Click on the student’s name to open their settings.

  4. In the pop-up window, find the “Reading Level” dropdown menu and select the desired level.

  5. Click “Save” to confirm the change.

🎉 That’s it! The new reading level will be used for all future assignments.


🔄 How to Have a Student Retake the Diagnostic

Want to give a student a fresh start or reestablish their level through the diagnostic? Follow these steps:

  1. Navigate to the "Rosters" tab.

  2. Click “Show # Students.”

  3. Click the student’s name to open their settings.

  4. In the “Reading Level” dropdown, select “Take Diagnostic Quizzes.”

  5. Click “Save” to confirm the change.
