Slack Integration

Integrating with Slack allows users to receive all notifications from Shapes in your company's Slack workspace. All Super Admins can integrate in 3 simple steps. Ensure that Shapes admins have the necessary permissions and that the Slack workspace owner is available for authorization.

  1. Enter Shapes' Account Settings -> Integrations -> Slack Before proceeding, confirm that you have admin permissions in Shapes to manage integrations.

2. Click "Connect" and allow permission to access your Slack workspace

Slack is now integrated with Shapes! The Slack app will be added automatically for each employee as soon as the first notification is sent. Additionally, admins can manage or troubleshoot the integration if any issues arise, such as reinstallation or access problems.

How does the integration work?

Managing and Troubleshooting the Slack Integration

Efficient integration between Shapes and Slack can streamline communication, but users may encounter issues occasionally. Below are some steps to manage and troubleshoot effectively:

Permissions and Access Requirements

  • Slack Workspace Owner Role: Only Slack workspace owners can add or reinstall apps in their workspace.

  • Admin Permissions in Shapes: Shapes admins must have specific permissions to manage integrations. Ensure you have access to the admin settings.

Reinstalling the Slack Integration

  1. Confirm a Slack workspace owner is available for app reinstallation.

  2. The workspace owner should reinstall the integration via the Slack app directory.

  3. Navigate to Shapes Admin panel to reconnect the integration.

Enabling Admins to Manage Integrations

  1. Assign permissions in the Shapes Admin panel under "Manage integrations."

  2. Once permissions are granted, navigate to the Slack integration under settings and follow the prompts to log in and connect.

Troubleshooting Common Issues

  • Confirm the app's visibility in Slack and its installation status.

  • Verify admin permissions and that the integration is active.

Employees will receive notifications about:

  • Time Away requests/bookings

  • Attendance submissions

  • Workflow task assignments/reminders

  • New hires added through ATS integration
