Connect Shapes to Claude

This guide explains how admins can enable the connector for the organization, and how employees can connect their own Shapes accounts.

Written by Efrat Barak Zadok

The Shapes connector for Claude is built on MCP (Model Context Protocol), the open standard that lets Claude securely connect to external tools and data sources like Shapes. This guide covers how to add the Shapes MCP connector for your organization and connect it as an individual user.

How the Shapes Claude Connector Works

The setup process has two parts:

  1. An organization admin adds the Shapes connector to the company's Claude account

  2. Each employee connects their own Shapes account

This approach keeps data secure and ensures users only have access to the data they're authorized to see.

Step 1: Add the Shapes Connector to Your Organization

An organizational Claude admin must first add the Shapes connector.

This can be done by:

  • HR teams

  • IT administrators

  • Any authorized organizational admin

Option A: Add Through the Connectors Menu

  1. Open the Connectors menu

  2. Click Add Connector

Connectors menu with the Add Connector button highlighted
  3. Search for Shapes

Search field showing results for the Shapes connector
  4. Click Add

Option B: Add Through Organization Settings

  1. Go to Organization Settings

  2. Select Connectors

  3. Click Add Connector

  4. Search for Shapes

  5. Click Add

Once added, the Shapes connector becomes available across the organization.

Step 2: Employees Connect Their Personal Shapes Accounts

After the organization enables the connector, each employee must connect their own Shapes account.

This ensures:

  • Secure access control

  • Users only see data they personally have permission to access

  • Personal data remains isolated and protected

How Employees Connect

Users can connect through:

  • The Managed Connectors area

  • The Connectors menu

Steps

  1. Open Connectors

  2. Find Shapes

  3. Click Connect — Claude will automatically detect the Shapes account currently logged into the browser

  4. Approve the access request

  5. The connection is completed automatically

Once connected, users can begin interacting with their Shapes data directly through Claude.

After setup, users can confirm that:

  • Shapes is connected successfully
