Shapes' Vibe views

Create Custom People Analytics with AI

Written by Ben Feldman

Vibe Views let you build fully custom data visualizations of your people data, just by describing what you want in plain English. No spreadsheets, no manual report building, no technical skills required.

What is a Vibe View?

A Vibe View is an AI-generated data view inside the People Directory. You type a description of what you want to see, and Shapes instantly builds it for you, live, using your real employee data. This data is live and will always be updated.

Whether you want a headcount breakdown by department, a performance-by-tenure chart, or a custom approval status dashboard, Vibe Views can build it in seconds.

Who can use Vibe Views?

Vibe Views are available to all Super Admin, Admin, and Manager permission levels

How to create a Vibe View

  1. Go to People Directory

  2. Click "+" New View

  3. Select the "Vibe View" option

  4. Type a description of what you want to see — for example:

    • "Build me an analysis to track termination trends overtime"

    • "Show all employees hired in the last 6 months grouped by team"

  5. Click Generate — your view will appear in a couple of minutes.

How to refine a Vibe View

Not quite right? No problem — just describe what you'd like to change

  1. Click on the 3 dots next to the title of the view

  2. Click edit view

  • "Add a column for job title"

  • "Filter to active employees only"

  • "Change the chart to a bar chart"

  • "Sort by hire date, newest first"

Shapes will update the view based on your instruction. You can refine as many times as you like.

Exporting data from Vibe views

All data shown and generated in the vibe view can be exported either to CSV or PDF

Version history

Every time you refine a view, Shapes saves the previous version. You can switch back to an earlier version at any time using the version history panel — so you never lose a view you liked.

What can I build with Vibe Views?

Vibe Views work with any people data you have in Shapes, including:

  • Headcount & demographics — breakdowns by team, location, tenure, job title

  • Time-off analytics — approval status, usage by policy, carry-over balances

  • Performance data — rating distributions, review completion rates

  • Compensation — salary ranges by department or level

  • Custom fields — any field you've configured in Shapes

Tips for better results

  • Be specific — instead of "show me employees", try "show me a table of active employees in the Engineering team with their manager and start date"

  • Mention the format — tell Shapes if you want a table, bar chart, donut chart, or summary card

  • Use refine to fix issues — if something looks off, describe what's wrong and Shapes will fix it. Example: "The status column is showing incorrectly — it should show Approved / Pending, not a list"

  • Filter early — mention any filters upfront (e.g., active only, specific department) to get cleaner results
