The Compensation app lets you create, manage, and track compensation cycles from creation through publishing, so you can run salary reviews with a structured budget, an approval chain, and benchmark data all in one place.
Creating a Compensation Cycle
Navigate to the Compensation section in the left-hand menu.
Create a new cycle and give it a name and timeline.
Track cycles from creation to publishing, including status, timeline, and creator.
Scope: Salary, Bonuses and Equity
A cycle can cover salary, bonuses, and equity. The Scope step controls which of the three a given cycle includes. Salary is always part of a cycle and cannot be removed; bonuses and equity are optional and sit on top of it.
Approval Flow
The approval flow guides compensation decisions through each reviewer in sequence. Once an approver completes their review, the next approver in the chain is notified automatically, so the cycle moves forward without manual hand-offs.
Budget Management
Set an overall budget for the cycle and allocate it across the organization by department, job, office, level, and other dimensions, so managers work within clear limits when proposing changes.
Conversion Rates
For cycles that include employees across multiple sites, define exchange rates between currencies so budgets and compensation figures stay comparable across the cycle.
Benchmark Import
Import benchmark data directly into a cycle to see where each employee stands relative to the market, alongside the rest of the cycle's data.
Custom Management Table
Add any field to the management table used during the cycle, so reviewers have the context they need — beyond the default fields — to make compensation decisions.
For example, if you have a field related to an employee's performance (such as a performance rating or score), you can add it to the management table so reviewers can see it alongside compensation data when making decisions.
Viewing a Participant's Compensation History
In a cycle's Manage view, click a participant's row to open their compensation history. The drawer lists their salary, bonus, and equity history using the same columns as the employee profile, so reviewers can see how someone's compensation has changed while deciding on the current cycle.
Hovering over a participant's row shows a History hint; clicking the row opens the drawer.
Field-level permissions still apply, so any value a reviewer is not permitted to see stays masked.
The drawer is available once the cycle is Running, and at every stage after that.
Insights
Track what's happening throughout the cycle: who has approved, who's still waiting, and who's below or above benchmark, so you can spot bottlenecks and outliers as the cycle progresses.
Publishing Updates
Once the approval flow is complete, publish the cycle. Employees immediately see their updated compensation reflected in their Compensation table.
Publishing takes two dates: the publish date, and the salary effective date.
Publish immediately and employees see their updated compensation in their Compensation table straight away.
Set a future publish date and the cycle moves to Schedule publish status, then publishes on its own when that date arrives.
Vibe Views
Compensation data is also available through Vibe views for custom, AI-assisted analytics. This is currently available under a feature flag.
