View as an Employee (Impersonation)

How Super Admins can use "View as [Employee]" to see Shapes exactly as a specific employee would, for troubleshooting and verifying permission roles.

Super Admins can view Shapes exactly as a specific employee would see it — same permission level, same visible and hidden fields, and same data scope (for managers, the same reports). This is often called "impersonating" an employee.

What "View as" does

  • Shows you the account through that employee's eyes: their permission role, their visible/hidden fields, and their data scope.

  • It's read-only — you can look around, but you can't make edits or take actions on the employee's behalf while viewing as them.

When to use it

  • Troubleshooting permission issues — e.g. "why can't this employee see X?"

  • Verifying permission role configuration — confirming that a role's field visibility and access settings look correct from the employee's perspective, before or after making changes in Permission Levels.

How to view Shapes as an employee

  1. Open the employee's full profile.

  2. Click the ••• (more options) menu in the top right of the profile.

  3. Select View as [Employee's name].

Only Super Admins can use "View as." It's read-only — while you're viewing as an employee, you can't edit data or perform actions on their behalf.
