How to use Subject Areas

As with diagrams, subject areas are not physical database objects. They are meant to separate big projects into manageable parts by grouping diagrams. This means when you select a subject area or diagram related to the subject area, only diagrams for this group will be represented on the top of the canvas.

Subject area properties

In the subject area, SqlDBM users can set:

• Subject area name

• Description

Create a subject area

You can create a subject area using:

• The context menu in the "Diagrams" level of the Explorer panel

• The bottom bar in the "Diagrams" level of the Explorer panel

• Using the dropdown list near the Diagram tabs

• The "Subject area" dropdown in the "Diagram" properties
