[IMPORTANT]: In order for RazorpayX Payroll to continue to automate your TDS payments and filings, you will have to provide us with your Income Tax Portal login credentials at the earliest. Failure to do so will prevent RazorpayX Payroll from completing your monthly payments as well as quarterly filings.

What's TIN 2.0 and what's changed?

We have moved to the government mandated TIN 2.0, in effect from 1st November, 2022. Tax Information Network 2.0 (TIN 2.0) is an initiative by the IT Department for the modernisation of the current system for collection, processing, monitoring and accounting of direct taxes. Here’s the impact of these changes:

  • It is now mandatory to update your Income Tax Portal login credentials on your RazorpayX Payroll Dashboard. You can do this by going to Company Settings > External Credentials. Detailed steps are given below. Please ensure that your registration is done with your TAN, and not PAN.

  • If the login credentials are not updated and verified at the earliest, then we will be unable to automate your monthly TDS payments and also be unable to submit the filings.

  • Once you have updated the credentials and are able to see the "Verification Successful" status on the dashboard you can sit back and relax as we take care of your TDS payments and filings.

Step 1: Income Tax Portal Registration

  • You need to create an account using your TAN on the Income Tax portal..

  • If you already have an account on the Income Tax portal then you need to check if that account was registered using your PAN or your TAN. If the account was registered using your PAN in the past then you need to re-register on the Income Tax portal following the exact steps explained below.

Step 2: Updating Income Tax Portal credentials on RazorpayX Payroll

  • Please read this only after completing Step 1 completely (mentioned above).

  • Once the IT Portal registration has been completed, please update the credentials in XPayroll under Company Settings > External Credentials.

  • Enter the credentials as shown below and click on the Verify Credentials button.

IMPORTANT: The username entered must be your TAN mandatorily.

  • Once the credentials are verified (can take upto 30 minutes) you will see the "Verification Successful" status on this screen as shown below.

  • It is mandatory to verify your Income Tax portal credentials. Without this, we will be unable to pay your TDS on time.

Why your Income Tax Portal credentials verification might be failing

Your Income Tax portal login credentials verification might be failing due to one of the below 3 mentioned reasons:

  1. Credentials are updated but you did not register on the IT portal using your TAN

  • You will see the following message on your screen if this error is happening.

  • You can either click on "Follow these steps" or click here to proceed with re-registering on the Income Tax Portal website. Please ensure that you follow the exact steps mentioned in the link when you re-register.

  • Once you have re-registered successful, please login into the Income Tax portal using your PAN on the Income Tax website, then go to Pending Actions -> Worklist and approve your TAN to authenticate your UserID.

  • Finally, go Company Settings -> Update Credentials on your RazorpayX Payroll dashboard, enter the correct User ID (TAN) and Password and click on the "Verify" button to verify your credentials.

2. You have registered on the Income Tax portal but not yet activated your account.

  • You will see the following message on your screen if this error is happening.

  • If you are getting this error, then you need to login using your PAN on the Income Tax website, then go to Pending Actions -> Worklist and approve your TAN to authenticate your UserID.

  • Next go to Company Settings -> Update Credentials on your RazorpayX Payroll dashboard, enter the correct User ID (TAN) and Password and click on the "Verify" button to verify your credentials.

3. The UserID or Password entered is incorrect

  • You will see the following message on your screen if this error is happening.

  • Please do a quick check to ensure that the User ID (TAN) and Password you have entered is correct. If verification is still failing, please reach out to support.
