Pre-requisite: Creating A Twilio Account

A2P 10DLC can have a significant impact on how you use the Dialer with Twilio services.

What is A2P 10DLC?

A2P 10DLC refers to a system in the United States that allows businesses to send Application-to-Person (A2P) type messaging via standard 10-digit long code (10DLC) phone numbers. Carriers in the US consider all Twilio traffic to be A2P. Carriers’ A2P 10DLC offerings provide better delivery quality and lower filtering risk than long code SMS of the past, using the same phone numbers.

There are two important requirements under the new A2P 10DLC system:

Registration is done entirely through Twilio’s Trust Hub. ISV-type customers can complete the registration via the Dialer API.

Log in to your Twilio Console at https://www.twilio.com/console.

Step 1. Navigate to Account > Trust Hub > Customer Profiles. Click "Create Primary Business Profile". Then, complete the registration form.

Step 2. Once approved, navigate to Account > Trust Hub > Customer Profiles. Click "View Profile Details". Then, assigned phone numbers.

Note: This step assumes you have set up an SMS-capable phone number with Twilio already.

Step 3. Once the Primary Business Profile is approved, navigate to Account > Trust Hub > Customer Profiles. Click "View Profile Details". Then, go to the A2P Messaging section.

Then, continue with the A2P Brand Registration.

Alternatively, you may directly access the "Brands" section from the left navigation pane. Then, initiate the A2P Brand Registration request.

Alternatively, you may directly access the "Campaigns" section from the left navigation pane. Then, click the "Register a Campaign" button.

**Note: Effective January 26, 2023, all new A2P Campaign registrations are subject to a manual vetting process. Registration currently takes at least 3 weeks due to a higher-than-normal volume of requests. See here.
