AAPC provides clear shipping timelines and policies for its educational books and materials, including code books, study guides, and other resources. Below is a comprehensive guide to help you understand the shipping process, timelines, and exceptions.
General Shipping Information
Physical books typically ship within 48 business hours of being ordered, provided they are in stock. Delivery via UPS Ground usually takes 3–5 business days after shipment.
Books are shipped as they are released by the publisher. For example, the yearly code book editions are released and shipped in staggered schedules.

Typical yearly release dates for Code Books
ICD-10-PCS: September-October.
AMA CPT: October-November.
ICD-10-CM: September-October.
HCPCS: December-January.
Course Materials
Physical books included with CPC training (e.g., CPT, HCPCS, ICD-10-CM) are shipped normally within a couple of business days; delivery takes 3–5 business days, depending on your area.
Preordered course books for the next year's learning will ship upon release.
Specialty Guides
The Dermatology Coder’s Specialty Guide is expected to be released and shipped by the end of February each year.
Tracking and Delivery Updates
Once your order ships, you will receive a tracking number via email. If you do not see it in your email, you can find it online on your invoice. Use this number to monitor the shipment’s progress through the carrier’s tracking tool.
If the tracking page shows that the carrier does not yet have the package, it means the label has been created, but the package has not been handed off. Delivery estimates will appear once the carrier receives the package.
Exceptions and Delays
Backorders: Some books may be on backorder; they will ship as paid for when released. The website and invoice should show this. Preordering a book will mean it is on backorder and delayed until release.
External Factors: Delays may occur due to external factors, such as printing delays, inclement weather, and even government actions. We will keep members up to date as information arises.

Why haven’t I received all the books in my order? - Books in a bundle may ship separately based on their release schedules. Please check that your address is showing properly on file and your invoice.

Can books be shipped earlier than the stated timeline? - Yes, however, it is not guaranteed. Books are shipped only after they are officially released by the publisher.
