How to Cancel Your AAPC Membership, Subscription, or Auto-Renewal
If you are looking to cancel your AAPC membership, subscription, or auto-renewal, this guide provides clear instructions for various scenarios. Follow the steps below to ensure your cancellation is processed correctly.
General Membership Cancellation
AAPC memberships are annual subscriptions and cannot be canceled mid-term. However, you can prevent renewal by allowing the membership to lapse. Here’s how:
Do Not Renew: Simply choose not to renew your membership when it expires. No further action is required, and the membership will automatically cancel after the expiration date.
Mark as 'Will Not Renew': You can request that your account be marked as "will not renew" to avoid receiving renewal reminders.
Grace Period: Memberships will remain active for a 30- to 60-day grace period after the renewal date. If no payment is made during this time, the membership will lapse.
Refund Policy
Membership fees are non-refundable, even if the membership is not used or is canceled mid-term.
Refunds are not available for memberships used to sit for exams or other services.
Subscription Cancellation (Codify, Basic Coder, and Webinars)
Codify Subscription
To cancel your Codify subscription:
Visit the AAPC Subscriptions Page.
Select 'Auto Renewal' and change the setting from 'On' to 'Off.'
Troubleshooting: If the status does not change, ensure pop-up blockers are disabled. A pop-up will provide additional instructions and confirm the cancellation. Note: One-year subscriptions with monthly payments cannot be canceled mid-term. They will not renew after the term ends.
Basic Coder Subscription
For Basic Coder subscriptions:
If you are on a trial period, ensure the subscription is set not to auto-convert to a paid subscription. After the 14-day trial ends, access will automatically stop without charges.
Webinar Subscription
To stop a webinar subscription from auto-renewing:
Turn off auto-renewal in your account settings.
Remove any saved payment methods to ensure no future charges.
Special Cases
Canceling Membership Renewals Made with the Wrong Payment Method
If you accidentally renewed your membership with the wrong credit card, you can void the order and pay with the correct card:
Log into your AAPC account.
Navigate to 'Purchases' under your profile.
Locate the invoice and select the 'Quick Pay' option to complete the payment with the correct card.
Duplicate Orders
Duplicate orders for memberships or subscriptions can be canceled if they have not been fully processed. Contact AAPC support with the order number to request cancellation.
