    • Under “Your Profile” in the left menu, click “Credential Reinstatement Request.”

  2. AAPC reviews your eligibility.

  3. AAPC sends a requirements email explaining what is needed.

  4. Complete all listed requirements.

  5. Submit any requested CEUs or documentation.

  6. Pay any required fees listed in your reinstatement instructions.

  7. AAPC reviews the completed requirements.

Requirements vary by account. Always follow the instructions provided in your reinstatement email.

Important

Common Reasons for Certification Suspension

  1. Non-Renewal of Membership

    • AAPC certifications are tied to active membership. If your membership is not renewed within the required timeframe, your certification may become inactive or suspended.

  2. Incomplete CEU Submission

    • While completing Continuing Education Units (CEUs) is necessary to maintain your certification, you must also submit your CEU tracker to AAPC. Failure to do so can result in your certification being marked as missing or suspended.

Membership renewal alone does not automatically reinstate a credential. CEU submission alone may also not complete reinstatement. Your reinstatement email will explain what is required for your account.

Follow the instructions provided by the reinstatement team. Requirements vary depending on your account status and reinstatement eligibility.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I restore my credential by renewing my membership?

No. If your credential has already been canceled, you must complete the reinstatement process before the credential can return to active status.

Will I need to submit CEUs?

Possibly. If CEUs are required, your reinstatement instructions will explain what must be submitted.

This includes ensuring that your CEU tracker is up-to-date and submitted to AAPC.

Will I need to pay fees?

Possibly. If fees are required, the amounts and payment instructions will be included in your reinstatement communication.

How do I know when reinstatement is complete?

Your credential is reinstated once AAPC has reviewed and confirmed that all reinstatement requirements have been satisfied.

What are my options if my credential has been cancelled?

If your certification has been cancelled, you typically have two options:

  • Retest: Retake and pass the certification exam.

  • Reinstate: Submit a credential reinstatement request and complete the reinstatement requirements once approved.
