What Happens If I Miss My Exam?

What Happens If I Miss My AAPC Exam?

If you do not appear for your scheduled exam, you may be considered a no-show.

A no-show occurs specifically when the candidate fails to attend without prior cancellation or rescheduling. Additionally, forfeiture can occur when exam requirements, such as having an approved external webcam, are not met, preventing the exam from starting.

A no-show may result in loss of the exam attempt or voucher. If that happens, you may need to purchase a new voucher or use another available attempt, if one is available.

For users with Unlimited Exam Attempts, a no-show will also forfeit this benefit for the scheduled exam. However, if qualifying medical documentation is approved, the attempt may be restored at no cost.

If an emergency, technical issue, or other unexpected situation prevented you from testing, contact AAPC Support as soon as possible. Supporting documentation may be needed for review. For technical issues, candidates should contact Meazure Learning immediately while the exam window is still active to attempt to log in and avoid a no-show marking. For medical emergencies, documentation such as hospital discharge papers or medical certificates should clearly indicate the nature and timing of the emergency. Once submitted, candidates will receive an email update with the decision. Even if the system initially marks the appointment as a no-show, approved medical documentation can preserve the voucher. If you anticipate missing your exam due to a medical emergency, you can request a cancellation or reschedule at least 48 hours before the scheduled time. Documentation showing the emergency can still be submitted for review if the cancellation is late.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does missing an exam automatically qualify me for another attempt?
No. Missed exams and forfeited attempts may require review.

Should I contact Meazure Learning or AAPC? For technical issues during an active exam, contact Meazure Learning immediately. For policy review or missed exam situations, contact AAPC Support.

What documentation should I provide?
Provide any documentation that supports the issue, such as screenshots, error messages, or emergency documentation if applicable.

Examples of documentation include hospital discharge papers, medical certificates with clear dates and nature of the emergency, or screenshots of error messages. The process involves gathering relevant documentation, submitting it to the AAPC exams team, and awaiting an email decision.
