E/M Calculator 2023

This tool is designed to assist you in accurately determining the level of service for your medical encounters after 12/31/2022. Follow the steps below to use the E/M Calculator:

1. Use this E/M Calculator for DOS after 12/31/2022.

2. Located in Codify under the 'Coding Tools' Tab click on the E/M Calculator 2023

3. Select Type of Service, Type of Visit and Date of Service
Click 'Save'

4. Medical Decision Making (MDM): Enter all relevant data from your documentation that supports the following:

• Number and complexity of problems addressed
• Amount and/or complexity of data to be reviewed or analyzed
• Risk of complications and/or morbidity or mortality of patient management

Click Save to calculate your final code level based on MDM.

5. Time-Based Coding: If your encounter documentation includes notes on total time spent on the encounter, click Yes. Enter the total time in minutes and click Submit. Click Save to calculate your final code level based on time.

6. The Final Code Level will give you the calculated level of service based on the information you provided.
