LCD Lookup Tool

Welcome to our LCD Lookup Tool help center article! This easy to use tool allows you to quickly access the allowed diagnosis codes for a specific CPT® or HCPCS Level II code, contractor type, and locality of the medical practice. With just a few clicks, you can access the corresponding LCD for that code or procedure.

In 2019, the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) made changes to the way LCDs are accessed and used. Previously, codes were included within the LCDs themselves, but now, codes have been removed from the LCDs and moved to separate articles. This change allows for more flexibility in updating codes as they change over time, without having to update the entire LCD. The LCD lookup tool now directs users to the articles that contain the codes, rather than the LCDs themselves, to access the coverage information they need.

To use the LCD Lookup tool, simply enter the CPT® or HCPCS Level II code, contractor type, and locality of the medical practice. You can also search for specific codes or procedures to access the corresponding LCD. This tool is available with our Basic Coder, Pro Fee, and Complete Coder Subscriptions.
