Corporate Accounts and CEU Due Dates
When you are added to a corporate account, your CEU due date and Membership date change to reflect your employer's due dates. This is an important change to be aware of, as it may affect your ability to maintain your membership and certification.
Employer’s Role in Corporate Membership Management
Employers or designated supervisors manage the details of corporate memberships, including adding or removing employees and supervising individual membership information. This ensures compliance with membership policies and smooth operations.
What is a Corporate Account?
A corporate account is a special type of account that is created for employees of a company or organization. This account allows the company to manage the membership and certification of their employees, making it easier for them to track and maintain their employees' credentials.
How Does Being Added to a Corporate Account Affect My CEU Due Date?
When you are added to a corporate account, your CEU due date will change to match the due date set by your employer. The amount of CEUS due may also increase during this transition. Make sure to complete your required CEUs by the new due date in order to maintain your certification. The amount of CEUs due will revert back to normal after this first submission under the Corporate account.
Additionally, the CEU record for an individual remains unaffected during this transition process, ensuring that previously submitted CEUs stay intact. Any adjustments only align with the corporate membership's terms.
Addressing Employer Inaction
If your employer does not take action to remove you from the corporate membership upon request, it is your responsibility to follow up directly with them. AAPC does not have the authority to intervene in this matter as it falls under internal organizational processes.
How Does Being Added to a Corporate Account Affect My Membership Date?
In addition to your CEU due date, your membership date will also change when you are added to a corporate account. This date will now reflect the date that your employer has set for your membership to expire. It is important to keep track of this date and ensure your employer renews your membership before it expires in order to continue enjoying the benefits of membership.
What if I am No Longer Employed by the Company?
If you are no longer employed by the company, your CEU due date and membership date will continue forward as normal. You will be responsible for membership moving forward and may be provided a prorated quote for the remainder of the year depending on when you are removed from the corporate account. However, it is important to inform your Corporate Contact, the person managing your corporate membership account, of your change in employment status so that they can update your account accordingly.
If you wish to transition back to an individual membership, you must contact your employer and request to be removed from the corporate membership. Only after this action by your employer can you re-register as an individual member.
Conclusion
Being added to a corporate account can have an impact on your CEU due date and membership date. It is important to be aware of these changes and to stay on top of your required CEUs and membership renewal in order to maintain your certification and membership benefits.
