What is FEE-HELP?
โ€‹FEE-HELP is a student loan provided by the government to Australian citizens (and other eligible people) so that you do not have to pay any fees up front. The loan is interest free (apart from inflation) and is paid back in instalments once your salary reaches a determined point. Students can make voluntary repayments at any time. There is a 25% loan fee for those studying an undergraduate degree.

FEE-HELP is eligible to all Australian Citizens and residents who hold a Permanent Humanitarian Visa. New Zealand citizens are also eligible for FEE-HELP if they meet the following criteria:

  • First began residing in Australia at least 10 years ago and at that time you were a child under the age of 18 with no spouse or de facto partner; and

  • You have been in Australia for at least:

  • a total of eight out of the past 10 years; and

  • a total of 18 months out of the last two years.

Please read the FEE-HELP Booklet before requesting FEE-HELP.
