Using MyLegalSpace

My Legal Space (MLS) is used as a secure means of communication with a client or contact as an alternative to sending emails or printing and sending letters. All correspondence is attached to the case files automatically.

This feature allows you to securely chat and send documents to your client(s) or any contact. Documents can then be reviewed and amended by the recipients. Important milestones of a matter can also be viewed here.

You will not be logging into MLS when using MLS as a Fee Earner. The integration within Access Legal Case Management allows you to send via MLS directly through the Case Management system however clients will be logging into the MLS online portal. to view any shared items.

To share using MLS in Access Legal Case Management, follow the steps below:

  1. When inside a matter, click on the 3-dot ellipsis button to the left of the document you would like to share.

  2. Select Share from the dropdown menu that appears.

  3. The Share Using screen will appear. On this screen ensure that MLS & Safe chat is ticked.

  4. You can add a Review note and Message for the client in the fields,

  5. Select a recipient to send to by ticking the box to the right under the To column or by clicking Add recipients on the bottom left.

  6. One all fields are filled out and recipients have been selected, click on the Share button.

  7. On the popup which appears, click Ok.

Note: On the File History screen you should now see a new tab called MyLegalSpace. Here you will be able to view what has been sent to the client as well as what has been received from the client.
