Discontinue medication orders

In this article, we explain how to discontinue medication orders that are no longer required.

Sometimes a resident no longer needs a medication. To make sure it doesnโ€™t appear in the med round, you need to discontinue the order.

Follow these steps to discontinue the order:

๐Ÿ“Œ Note: To discontinue a controlled medication order, you need to enter your username and password or PIN.

  1. Click Residents/Orders.

  2. Click on the necessary resident.

  3. Click Orders, then click on the medication you want to discontinue.

  4. Next to the end date, use the calendar drop-down to select:

    • The end date.

    • Time of day.

    • Time the medication should be discontinued.

  5. Click Save.

  6. The medication now shows with a yellow tag stating 'DCโ€™d'.

  7. If the order has tracked inventory, you need to dispose of the remaining stock using drug disposal.
