Target+ Size Chart Guidelines and Submission Process

Target+ vendors may upload their own size charts; however, we strongly recommend using the sizes listed below. Following these standard values ensures successful validation and prevents syndication rejections.

For vendors looking for a convenient way to host size charts used across various marketplaces, please refer to this resource: Marketplace Size Chart Hosting

I. Approved Standard Values ("Tried and True")

To ensure successful validation, use these specific standard values:

Apparel – Alpha Sizes

  • Approved Values: XS, S, M, L, XL, XXL, XXXL, One Size, OS

  • Best Practice: Target prefers short-form (XS, S) over long-form (Small, Medium).

Apparel – Numeric Sizes

  • Approved Values: 0, 2, 4, 6, 8, 10, 12, 14, 16, 18, 20

  • Note: Do not add descriptors like "Petite" or "Tall" into the size field.

Footwear – Numeric (US)

  • 5, 5.5, 6, 6.5, 7, 7.5, 8, 8.5, 9, 9.5, 10, 10.5, 11, 11.5, 12

Footwear – Alpha

  • XS, S, M, L, XL

Kids & Baby

  • NB, 0–3M, 3–6M, 6–9M, 9–12M, 12M, 18M, 24M, 2T, 3T, 4T, 5T

II. Common Rejection Causes (What to Avoid)

To prevent automated rejection, avoid the following in your size fields:

  • Ranges: Do not use "S–M" or "6–8".

  • Marketing Text: Avoid "Relaxed Fit" or "Oversized".

  • Demographics: Do not include "Men’s" or "Women’s".

  • Mixed Formats: Avoid "Medium / Large".

  • Non-standard Abbreviations: Do not use "SM", "LG", or "MED".

III. How to Submit Size Charts via Acenda

Vendors can submit size charts to Target+ through Acenda by treating them as an Alternate Image.

  1. Upload: Add the size chart image directly in the Acenda image console for the product.

  2. Placement: The image will appear in the Product Detail Page (PDP) image carousel. It must not be the main image or the very first alternate image.

  3. Automatic Conversion: Target's automation tool will detect the image and convert the data into an Excel version that meets PDP standards.

  4. Final Upload: The Target content team will then upload the converted chart to the dedicated Size Charts tab on the PDP.

Tip: This method is fast and minimizes errors by leveraging your existing size chart assets.

IV. Mandatory Categories & Compliance

Size charts are mandatory for all new items in the following four Apparel & Accessories divisions:

  • Ready to Wear

  • Swim

  • Shoes

  • Performance

Compliance Window: All new items in these divisions must include a size chart within 21 days of being listed.

Non-Compliance: If a size chart is not submitted within this window, the item may be unlisted until the requirement is met.

Exclusions: This rule does not apply to "shoelaces" and "shoe horns."

V. Image Submission Best Practices

To ensure the automation tool accurately reads your image, follow these rules:

  • Clear Headers: Each chart must include distinct headers (e.g., Bust, Waist, Hip, Size).

  • Single Tables: Single tables are preferred. If you have multiple charts, submit each as a separate image.

  • High Resolution: Ensure images are sharp and text is legible.

  • Consistent Formatting: Use simple grid layouts; avoid merged or split cells.

  • Minimal Backgrounds: Avoid patterns, watermarks, or design elements that interfere with text recognition.

  • Preferred File Types: JPEG or PNG.

  • Dimension Chart: Used for home products (rugs, bedding, wall art) to share area, length, etc.

  • Comparison/Compatibility Chart: Used for electronics or sporting goods to show how items compare to other models.
