What this error means

This error, “TCIN has been unlisted as the UPC will be listed by another source”, means that the UPC for your product is already in use on an existing Target.com listing from another vendor.

To ensure a consistent customer experience and prevent duplicate products, Target's system allows only one active listing per UPC. As a result, your new listing (TCIN) was automatically unlisted.

This typically happens for one of three reasons:

  • The UPC is already part of Target's first-party (1P) retail assortment.

  • Another Target+ partner has already listed a product with that same UPC.

  • The UPC is reserved for another seller due to a prior agreement with Target.

How to fix it

Follow these steps to resolve the issue:

  1. Confirm UPC Ownership. Your first step is to determine who the UPC belongs to. Is it registered to your company?

  2. Contact Your Target+ Category Manager. Reach out to your assigned Category Manager and inform them of the error. They can investigate the conflict and inform you of the current UPC owner in Target's system.

  3. Take Action Based on Ownership

    • If you own the UPC, please provide proof of ownership (such as your GS1 certificate) to your Category Manager. They may be able to override the conflict and get your product relisted.

    • If you do not own the UPC, you cannot use this UPC. You must update your product data with a different, valid UPC that your company owns and then resubmit the product for listing.

How to prevent this in the future

Before you list new products, it's a good practice to consult your Category Manager to verify that your UPCs are available and not already in use within Target's catalog. This can help you avoid listing delays.
